There is little better than the smell of coffee when you awake to start another day! But there are so many studies out there on whether it is good or harmful for your body. Research has shown that there certainly are health benefits associated with coffee drinking, and it seems that the more we are learning about it, the more the good is outweighing the bad. These studies, however, are dose-related.
Just like everything else, moderation is also the key with coffee intake. Too much caffeine can cause: indigestion, nausea, light-headedness, headaches, irregular heartbeat, nervousness, restlessness, and sleep disturbances. There are also potentially long-term harmful effects with the consumption of too much coffee (caffeine).
Keep your coffee drinking to 1 or 2 cups a day to incur more of the benefits associated with it.
Coffee contains no calories, no fat, and barely any carbohydrates. It is also a source of antioxidants for your body!
Generally, people drink coffee because it helps fight off drowsiness and promotes a more alert mental state. This is definitely one of the more temporary benefits that is a result of drinking coffee, but you might be surprised at the other types of health benefits it can also bring about.
